YOU are welcome here
The University School has educated hundreds of Pittsburgh region high school students since 1911. While the school has evolved over the last century, our mission to provide individualized instruction to learners of all abilities has remained steadfast.
Students and families are drawn to The University School for several key reasons: our small class sizes, our safe, student-centered culture, and our rigorous academic college preparatory curriculum.
The University School’s class sizes are limited to four students, fostering wonderful interaction between the students and teachers. Our teachers and administration value open, transparent communication with our students and families so that we can provide consistent support between home and school. Our caring environment encourages students to use their voice and be confident in their speech and actions. All students are challenged to grow both intellectually and socially.
If you are new to The University School community, and if these ideas resonate with you, we invite you to visit our school. I look forward to sharing our school with you.

The University School
“On the first visit there, our daughter recognized The University School as an environment for success. The small class sizes, excellent teachers and dedicated counselors have proven to be a winning combination. Free of the chaos she experienced previously, she’s been able to shine. Yes, she’s faced (and presented) challenges but, everybody—from the front desk to the back office—has offered support and guidance with unwavering patience, all while adhering to the highest standards of education and ethics.” —Parent
